Overview Summary: WALL-E is a robot who’s whole purpose in life is to compress and clean up the mess left behind by mankind. Thing is, he’s also got a personality.
Our story opens up way in the future where what’s left of the earth has been scorched by global warming, over building and in general total mismanagement, leaving mountains of trash the size of skyscrapers, an almost complete eco system collapse and a lot of other problems that would give Al Gore higher blood pressure. Our loveable little robot has been left behind to sort it our and clean it up. Him and the roaches, which seem to survive just about anything, have an almost human/pet interaction that adds personality to the movie.
A probe arrives from the evacuated humans in search of organic plant life and it finds WALL-E. And, our loveable little robot falls in love with the probe. When the probe returns to the mother ship, WALL-E tags along for the ride and the ride really begins from there.
There’s a lot of fun, laughs and humanity that develop between our two little robots, and the rest of the robot and human community. And all this make for a fun movie for the whole family. So, slide a Diet Sprite and some M&M’s in your pocket or purse and sit back a really good flick.
Now The Details: As I said, this flick is set many years in the future when people have totally trashed the earth, in more ways than one, and evacuated it, leaving behind a little loveable robot to cleanup the mess that is rather piled high and deep.
As our loveable little character goes about his mundane day of compacting trash, he picks up little curiosities that add to his lair’s ambiance in only a way a robot could appreciate. And the symbiosis between him and his pet roach are really cool.
Suddenly on the scene, comes a very female search and recon robot from the mother ship that the former occupants of earth have escaped on. The robot (Eve) is designed to search for any organic plant life as a sign that earth may be inhabitable again. In the process, she finds WALL-E. Their initial meeting is more than a bit rocky, but quickly things iron out and their find each other and he finds her a little seedling. Her quest complete, she is picked up by the mother ship and a lovelorn WALL-E tags along for the ride. And that’s when the fun and action hits high gear.
You’re going to enjoy this very entertaining quest and love between the two robots especially as the story continues back at the mother ship with other robots with their own personalities, all leading to a movie of adventure, romance and laughs albeit animated.
Go, and have a good time.
