Wanted Not exactly what the Supreme Court had in mind this week
Rated: R Time: 1:48
Stars: Morgan Freeman, James McAvoy, Common, Kristen Hager, Angelina Jolie, and others
Final Grade: C-
Summary: This is the story of one hapless chap named Wesley Gibson (McAvoy) who has neither vertebrae or balls and works in a go nowhere job for a fat bitch of a boss and a lives with a cute girlfriend who would much rather bang his office mate than him.
While visiting his local chemist for a prescription refill, he ends up in the middle of a gunfight and is kidnapped to join an ancient fraternity of assassins by none other than a rather sultry anorexic chick named Fox (Jolie).
After shooting up the drugstore and making a mess of some of the Chicago streets, they end up in the fortress of the fraternity of assassins where Gibson is told that he needs to join to avenge his father’s recent death. Needless to say, the head of the organization (Freeman) has double crossed our hapless no-nad and is training him to hunt and kill his real father and he will eventually succeed. And when he finally does succeed and realize the true picture, well, it’s hell to pay time for all the folks back at the fraternity’s fortress.
Jeezuz, there, in three paragraphs I saved you some bucks and probably time. How someone as anorexic looking as Jolie can actually hold and shoot one of those canons without getting compound fractures in her thin bones from the kick they produce amazes me! She must be shooting something even lighter than blanks!
This flick is rated R for a good reason LOTS of violence, guns, blood, shooting, guts, murder, more blood, brains, guts and limbs splattered all over the screen not to mention the walls, pillars, cars, board rooms And a nice hot kiss and gratuitous bare ass shot of our leading lady. When it comes to giving us role models, this movie sucks.
Frankly, either don’t waste your time, or wait until this hits cable or DVD.
I found it absolutely incredible and ironic, that a flick with this much violence and gun play would come out the day after the US Supreme Court ruled, striking down a really stupid law in Washington, DC. The thing is, the crap plot, murder, gun play, etc., that is the backbone of this movie, is the EXACT thing that the laws in DC, Chicago, San Francisco and elsewhere are trying to prevent. Perhaps, they’re attempting to prevent the wrong thing.
Movies like Wanted do nothing more than glorify murder, killing, using guns to do intentional harm, and the list goes on well into the night. Perhaps the mayors of DC, Chicago and other venues SHOULD be working to get Hollywood to get rid of these trash movies that promote senseless killing, gore and improper use of guns instead of wasting time outlawing the right for people to defend themselves from idiots that think things they see in flicks like this one are cool ways to live.
I’m Don Rima and that’s the way I see it, From Where I Stand.
