“Hello, Chicago. I’m Back…”
Many of you folks that are John Belushi fans will remember that quote from his movie with Blair Brown, “Continental Divide”. And that’s the way I feel right now, even though I know you folks are from more areas than just Chicago. Frankly, it’s really great to have the last couple months as history and to get back to the reality and fun of life and writing!
I won’t bore you with the details, but suffice it to say that in the last couple months I’ve moved 2 households 750 miles, settled my mother in an assisted living center, moved the kid’s schools and a bunch of other family stuff and issues that I’ll be writing about shortly.
The nice part is that, basically most of that crap is over with – FINALLY.
I REALLY like my new office/lab for testing computer products and look forward to incorporating computer product and consumer electronic product reviews into the mix here on the site. Fasten your seat belt, I don’t pull punches or take prisoners. And, all products stand on their own merit or lack of the same.
Another nice thing is that here I don’t have the conflict of interest that a marketing department would bring if say I were to find that a product really sucked, or maybe the software actually crashed my system when it was being run by the book, or maybe some company’s tech support is substantially incompetent, and to have to deal with a marketing department that’s trying to sell that company ad space for revenue.. Here I can bring these issues to light and your evaluation and information. Fortunately, however, I’m hoping that these kinds of major issues are the minority of things I run into. Yes, we’re going to find problems with some items and things that would be nice features to have with others, but finding products that are basically dead on arrival is very fortunately a rarity. Actually, in the 12 or so years that I’ve been doing product reviews, I think I’ve really only run into 3 of them. And that was 3 too many.
But anyway, I digress. I’m back.. And, I’m looking forward to playing catch up in the next few days then moving on with forward progress. So, sit back, fire up the coffee pot or tea kettle and I hope you enjoy.
