Hollywood – Returning to natural beauty
Monica Corcoran wrote an interesting blurb of an observation in today’s LA Times.
Her comments were basically pointing out how inappropriate it would be for the stars going to this evening’s Golden Globe awards to be all dressed up in excessive glitz and glimmer. Further, that how, most likely, many would be leaving their heavy jewelry at home or elsewhere and attending in a more simple elegance look. A look without lots of rocks and rings around their necks, wrists, ankles, fingers and noses. Considering how many in the past have actually gone to lengths to either borrow a serious array of adorning rocks or for other purposes have them “leant” to them by local major jewelers, a return to natural normalcy would be refreshing.
Using Reese Witherspoon’s choice of outfit and “gem-free neck” from 2007 as an example of the current trend of Hollywood ’s leading ladies, Corcoran points to how stars will probably be using less gaudy accessories for this evening’s show, perhaps in a subtle show of solidarity with the rest of America that is feeling the lingering effects of the current recession. One could always hope. But, there will always be the shockers – after all, this IS Hollywood.
Frankly, I think this is a trend that’s long overdue. Be it Witherspoon, Halle Berry , or other of Hollywood ’s ladies blessed with not only beautiful necks but other beauty, most don’t need all that excess load of rocks and metal and really never have.
Witherspoon’s neck, sans rocks, is just fine the way it is. Perhaps we’re seeing a “greening” of Hollywood in their return to natural elegance and beauty. Perhaps actresses like Witherspoon are forging a new path. And that’s naturally a good move in the right direction.
As for those who feel they don’t fit in the broad spectrum natural beauty, well, Home Depot still sells drywall and paint.
