Palm alienating CES attendees
Well, it’s been called “CES 2009’s hottest product” by some and equal accolades by others, but if you’re a looking to actually see the newly announced Palm Pre, FORGET IT. And that’s about as dumb as it gets.
It got some hype this morning when a reporter on CNBC fumbled around with it a bit on the air this morning (clearly he hadn’t had it long to play with) and that along with the announcement has some of the whispered less than 80,000 attendees at CES in Vegas interested to actually see the new toy.
Frankly, it appears you’re going to be able to keep wishing. Palm it would appear was too cheap to buy a regular floor space booth and staff it as a good venue to properly show off the new product and all the goodies it can do. You would think that Palm, like anyone else bringing out a new release, would really want folks to see it and play with it. After all, this is a CONSUMERS electronic show.
But, alas, Palm is content to “dis” attendees and Palm users alike at CES. Palm, in their knuckle dragging low browed lobotomize mindset, has a secure secluded room away from the main expo floors. It was guarded this morning by no less than four guards, each telling people wanting to see the new goodies that they were only allowed in “by invitation only”. Frankly, that really sucks.
It would also appear that Verizon has dropped the ball with Palm products once again since the Pre (don’t ask my why they named it that!) will only be available to Sprint clients. This is the second time in recent history that Verizon has dropped the ball on a Palm product for their client base that prefer the Palm O/S over one from Microsoft.
Frankly, I’ve been walking for the last 2 days and there’s A LOT to see and play with here in Vegas at CES. More to come and it’s not all like things from Palm…
I’m Don Rima and that’s the way I see it, From Where I Stand.
