I’ve WON the Nobel Economics Awards!!!
I’ve JUST been awarded the Nobel Prize in Economics!!! WOW! This is a totally unexpected honor that I never really saw coming! I’m told that I qualified for all the positive impact that I may have on the world’s economy in the future of my life time! That is, of course, with the change that I have left over from paying my taxes this week…
OK, so, unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, President Barack Hussein Obama, Jr., has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. He received sufficient nominations, within 14 days of his inauguration, that the great minds at the Nobel committee for the award thought he had the potential to bring peace to the world. Well, maybe peace to Pennsylvania Avenue, perhaps Camp David, but most of us would settle for peace on the south side of Chicago, perhaps even Southeast DC, or on Capital Hill.
Unlike previous winners of the Peace Prize, Barack Hussein Obama, Jr., was awarded it on the basis of future events.
A quick scurry of other award events have hastily announced their new award winners for this year also:
The Heisman Award, goes to President Barack Hussein Obama, Jr., for watching the Clemson – Wake Forrest game this weekend.
A special Academy Award will be going to President Barack Hussein Obama, Jr., for watching the last two Sandra Bullock flicks. After all, you never know who the next Alfred Hitchcock is going to be and where he’ll come from.
A Tony award will be given to President Barack Hussein Obama, Jr., for the great job as acting president of these United States.
And, Mrs. Kalibash’s 5th grade will be giving a special award to President Barack Hussein Obama, Jr., for knowing how to spell “Potato”, something previous vice presidents have had trouble with.
And the list goes on….
Now, I’m not against the president here in any way, shape or form. My beef is with the Nobel award committee.
Let’s look back at some previous winners:
Desmond Tutu – won for his work on apartheid.
Mother Theresa for her work in Calcutta.
Sadat, Begin and Carter for their work on the Camp David accords, an event which would later cost Sadat his life.
Martin Luther King, Jr., for his work in civil rights. Another who’s work would cost him his life.
Want me to go on?
These people actually DID something that meant something. No, it doesn’t mean that their work was finished. MLK’s work will take generations to finish. Mother Theresa’s work will never be finished as long as there’s hunger and need in Calcutta or elsewhere.
But, they DID something.
Barack Hussein Obama, Jr., in the first 14 days of his administration, really hadn’t done anything to warrant an award that should carry with it the honor, prestige and sense of accomplishment that the Nobel awards carry with them. Perhaps he should reply to the Nobel Committee something like, “Thanks, but no thanks. Come back in 3 or 4 years and then judge me on my accomplishments and things I’ve done to deserve this award. Please, don’t give me a hollow award just because you think it’s the politically correct thing to do.”
THAT would show leadership in a world mired with politically correctness. That would be change we could look up to.
